Mrs. Horace P. Ensminger died on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the thome of her son, William E. Nicholson, 315 West Main Street after an illness of several months duration. Nancy Austin was born in Harrison County, Kentucky in 1825. Her father, the Rev. John Baden Austin and family came to this county in 1828. She was married to John Nicholson and to them were born William E. Nicholson of this city and Mrs. Clara N. Shipp, the latter died several years ago. Later in life she was married to Horace P. Ensminger whose death occurred a few years ago. To this union were born three children: Charles Ensminger of Pierce City, Missouri, Dr. John Ensminger deceased and Hal S. Ensminger of this city. Mrs. Ensminger was a woman of lofty christian character. She was loved by everyone who had the great joy of knowing her. For several years she and her sister, Mrs. Harriet Campbell, lived together at their home on East Main Street, but recently when there was a turn for the better in her condition she was taken to the home of her loving son where she died. Mrs. Catherine Ashenhurst of South Walnut and Mrs. Harriet Campbell are all that is left of the family that came from Kentucky in 1828. For her entire life, Mrs. Ensminger was a member of the Baptist Church and she filled a part in that church for the betterment of society. Her funeral will be on Monday afternoon from the Baptist Church and interment will be in the family lot at Oak Hill. The services will be by Rev. Dr. Runyon.-typed by kbz

The death of Mrs. H.P. Ensminger occurred at three o'clock Saturday afternoon March 30, at the home of her son, Wm. E. Nicholson, where she had been failing for a short time. The cause of her death was heart disease with which she had suffered many months. Nancy Austin was born Aug 21, 1825, in Harrison County, Kentucky, the daughter of Rev. John Haden Austin and his wife, Nancy VanHook. Mr. Austin brought his family to this County in 1825 where they and their descendants have since resided. Only two members of the family who came from KY are now living, Mrs. Catherine Ashenhust and Mrs. Harriet Campbell. December 9, 1844, Nancy Austin was married to John Nicholson. To them were born Wm. E. Nicholson of this city and Mrs. Clara N. Shipp, deceased. After Mr. Nicholson's death she remained a widow for several years and then was married in 1856 to Horace P. Ensminger whose death occurred in 1895. To them were born: Charles of Pierce City, Mo; John, deceased and Hal of this city and three children who died in infancy. She leaves four grandchildren, Mrs. Thomas B. Eastman of Indianapolis; Floyd N. Shipp of this city; Madeline Ensminger of Pierce City, Mo and Helen Ensminger of San Diego, California. For many years she has been a member of the First Baptist Church of this place and has been always one of its helpful members. The real beauty and charm of her Christian Character and her self-sacrifices was best known so her relatives and friends, but she was one well beloved by all with whom she came in contact. The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the home of her son, WE Nicholson. The services were conducted by Rev. AW Runyan of the Baptist Church.
